of means." "When chance hands the filmmakers a shocking dramatic event, they build it into
their story in a non-exploitative manner that has maximum effect." Truth is stranger than fiction. This fascinating documentary follows the efforts of two less-than-angelic men trying to publish an unauthorized biography of none other than George W. Bush. When "Fortunate Son" was written, it contained some pretty bad dirt on the soon-to-be President of the United States, including Dubya's cocaine use. It is no wonder that the publishing company withdrew it, citing a fear of libel allegations. However, the author of the book, J.H. Hatfield, who began as a science fiction writer before finding his niche as a celebrity biographer, enticed underground publisher Sander Hicks to get his message to the American public. But when details from the book were used against Bush during his Presidential campaign, the politician's supporters went all-out to discredit the author, revealing a few of his own unsavory secrets. |
