Starring Kiera Knightley (Pirates of the Carribean), Parminder Nagra (who famously rejected an arranged marriage to pursue her acting career), and hunky Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, this film has won accolades at film festivals worldwide. A box-office phenomenon in the UK, the general consensus is that it deserves every penny.

Jess is the daughter of very traditional Indian parents in the increasingly mixed culture of Great Britain. The thing that excites her most in life is football (soccer to us Americans), and England's own David Beckham is her idol. Indian girls, however, Do Not Play Football; Jess resorts to deceit in order to follow her dreams, as she joins a women's team and rockets her way to local stardom. Meanwhile, her parents worry that she will never marry because she cannot cook Aloo Ghobi, and that perhaps she is even a lesbian!
