"It's the pleasures of the unexpected that make 'The Man Without a Past' such a delicious blend of hilarity and heartbreak."
-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone. Read this review.

"Brims with memorable characters and subplots on the periphery...with droll humor and abiding warmth, 'The Man Without a Past' celebrates the human capacity for goodness and generosity, but does so on its own idosyncratic terms."
-- Scott Tobias, The Onion A.V. Club. Read this review.

"[Kaurismäki] hasn't the slightest interest in conforming to expectations."
-- Eric Harrison, The Houston Chronicle. Read this review.

Academy Award Nominee...Best Foreign Language Film!

Honored at 37 film festivals, including Cannes, at which it won three awards, including the top honor: Grand Jury Prize! This is the second of three films by Kaurismäki about his native Finland.

Tragedy turns to opportunity in this off-beat comedy from acclaimed Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki. After he is mugged and beaten so severely that he develops amnesia, a man who has no name for himself other than M discovers that no past means no preconditions or prejudices, and thus is a unique chance to start anew.

In Finnish with English subtitles.
