The English Patient (1996) This epic film of adventure, intrigue, betrayal and love won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. The story is told largely through the eyes of an unknown English patient, the sole survivor of a plane shot down near the end of World War II, his mind awash with a life's worth of secrets and passions. As tales of the past and present unfold, the characters reveal themselves to one another and two love stories emerge. Stars Ralph Fiennes, Kristen Scott Thomas, and Juliette Binoche (Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.)

Shine (1996) Geoffrey Rush won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of the life of piano prodigy David Helfgott. This true story follows David's life from his youth, when he was pressured by his father to succeed at all costs. When David finally breaks away from his father and goes overseas to study, he suffers a nervous breakdown. Years later, he's found in a mental institution, and his path to redemption begins.

Moxy Fruvous A concert by the band Moxy Fruvous opened by Honest Bob and the Factory- to-dealer Incentives. Tickets are $7 in advance, sold at The Source, at LSC movies, or in the LSC office (w20-469) and $9 sold at the door. MIT/WC or college ID is required for admission. One guest is allowed per ID. This is an MIT metal detector event.
8:00pm, doors open at 7:00pm in Sala de Puerto Rico
