Speed (1994)

Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper) is a mad bomber who plans to make $3 million in ransom by sabotaging an elevator in an executive skyscraper, but his plans are foiled by Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves), a cocky LAPD SWAT officer. Payne plots revenge against Traven and makes another attempt to get his money by setting up an even bigger challenge. Traven must disarm a bomb on a city bus without evacuating the passengers. To make matters worse, the bomb is rigged to explode if the bus slows below 50 mph.
