They love each other. There's only one hitch: George is gay. And when Nina announces she's pregnant, things get especially complicated. Nina's overbearing boyfriend - the baby's father - wants marriage. Nina wants independence. George will do anything for a little affection, but is he ready to become an unwed surrogate dad? Jaime Escalante (Edward James Olmos) is a mathematics teacher in a school in a hispanic neighbourhood. Convinced that his students have potential, he adopts unconventional teaching methods to try and turn gang members and no-hopers into some of the country's top algebra and calculus students. Dr. Amar Bose, MIT Professor and Chairman of Bose Corporation, introduces the film. He recounts his personal visits to Jaime Escalante's classes, and how they completely changed his views on learning, teaching, and the amazing capabilities inherent in every one of us. This event is free and open to the public.
